Julie Colombino

The war on poverty is multifaceted and after years at the forefront of the issue, Julie Colombino realized that there were tools, resources and knowledge that was needed to combat these issues and challenges. Colombino immediately put into action the framework to start a global nonprofit organization, REBUILD globally.

For the first few years, they were small and had the start-up capital and financial support from generous donations. But they were slowly transitioning
from disaster response and recovery into a business,
deux mains, that was dependent on sales and investment. However, to sustain and have a viable growth trajectory, REBUILD needed a leader with business acumen. It was after this realization and mentorship from her board of directors that Colombino decided to pursue her MBA at Rollins College Crummer Graduate School of Business.

The connections and friendships she made by being a part of the Crummer family are lifelong. Her network of professionals she can trust is expansive and critical to her business. Recently, Colombino hired a classmate’s company to lead their rebranding efforts for deux mains. Having a new Rolodex of professionals who she trusts is a relief. Her network has opened because of Crummer.

Colombino thinks all business leaders have a responsibility to influence and mentor the next generation of leaders, especially young women. Success is contagious and it isn’t a limited commodity. Leaders need to share their mistakes as often as they share their successes. Giving young leaders the opportunity to present, speak and collaborate on the knowledge they are gaining is invaluable.  They are the leaders of tomorrow and their passion should not be taken lightly as it continues to fuel the economic engine of business.
