President, Laboratory Staffing
UCF, Class of 2007
With her degree in biological sciences, Melissa Owens, a former student athlete at UCF, started Allied Search Partners (ASP) to assist laboratories and hospitals in finding qualified laboratory employees. Building strategic relationships with both candidates and companies in order to streamline and customize the process for both, ASP has successfully placed hundreds of new employees throughout the country. They are working with some of the largest hospitals in the country and have made placements at Emory in Atlanta, Mayo Clinic and Banner Health.
Melissa credits many of the life lessons she acquired as a student athlete at UCF to her current success. She explained, “If you want something in your life, and have the will to push through to your ultimate goal, then absolutely anything is possible. There is always a way to get what you want out of life and there is always a way to fix or overcome a problem. If you think otherwise, then you just might not want your goal or solution bad enough. It may sound like a cliché, but there is nothing that you can’t accomplish with perseverance and hard work. Doing whatever it takes to make it happen, no excuses, maintaining positivity, and pushing through, those are all things I learned during my collegiate athletic experience at UCF.”
“The other thing that I’ve learned is that integrity is the most important thing to have in life, whether it is in business, personal relationships, competing at the NCAA collegiate level or even at the professional level. Integrity holds more value than the amount of money you make, the house you live in or the car you drive.”
