Katherine Diaz Gonzalez was recruited and hand-selected to be a member of IQ Orlando’s management team, which serves under the Strategy Office of the Florida Division at Adventist Health System. Through the partnership between private and public institutions, she contributes in a strategic and operational capacity to achieve IQ Orlando’s mission: the development of Florida’s life science and healthcare cluster via the creation of an entrepreneurial ecosystem to support firms’ multi-stage growth.
From collaboration, to innovation, and then delivery, Gonzalez is tasked with cultivating this ecosystem by coordinating the allocation of resources and projects between IQ Orlando’s four strategic partners, which comprise of AHG: an organization that sources and vets international life science and healthcare companies; Florida Hospital: the largest subsidiary of Adventist Health System, admitting more patients annually than any other hospital network in the U.S.; Tavistock Group: an international private investment organization and developer of the award-winning Lake Nona Medical City; and the University of Central Florida, the nation’s second largest university.
In addition to managing the internal stakeholders’ various initiatives, Gonzalez actively participates in driving the progress of IQ Orlando’s three primary strategic and business development objectives: commercialization of Florida based intellectual property, recruitment of U.S. and international firms, and the development of a global capital network. These efforts enable companies in health related software/ICT, medical device, biotech and biopharma progress through the various stages of R&D, validation and regulations with the ultimate goal of executing go-to-market strategies with the resources necessary for success.
“It is an exciting time for the Florida region to be at the center of these initiatives. The management of a portfolio of leading-edge life science firms backed by a vibrant network of people and resources has provided me with the opportunity to make a significant impact, in supporting innovative firms that have novel proprietary science with national and international clinical impact,” stated Gonzalez. She holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration finance and a Master of Science in health sciences and healthcare administration
