DESCRIPTION:

Over the course of his 17 years at Siemens, Vinod Philip, Chief Technology Officer of the Power and Gas Division, has become known as a strategic, people-oriented and dedicated business leader with a strong technology and product focus. Siemens is a leading global producer of energy-efficient and resource-saving technologies. His management career started when he was promoted to head the Gas Turbine Materials Engineering Department. Following this, he then assumed various managerial and executive roles of increasing responsibility within the business areas of Gas Turbines and Generators. His areas of focus were technology and engineering management, product and process development as well as general management.

There came a point in Vinod’s career when he knew it was time to invest in himself and the skillset needed to land in the C-Suite. His studies at the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay, India and Masters in Materials Science helped him develop expertise in engineering and technology, but he wanted to broaden his business perspective with finance, marketing and management fundamentals. It was then that Vinod turned to the Crummer Gradate School of Business at Rollins College to earn his MBA in Management and International Business.

“To be a well-rounded business person, it’s integral to have a deep knowledge in one domain coupled with a competence in the broader business enterprise and value chain,” Vinod said. “My experience at Crummer truly shaped my development as a team-oriented and collaborative individual, providing the intangible skills that come with a diverse, innovative, and enthusiastic faculty and student body.”

In his role as the CTO of Siemens’ Power & Gas Division, he is responsible for developing the Product and Technology Portfolios needed to ensure the long-term success of the multi-billion dollar division, as well as leading the transformation of the division into a world-class digital manufacturing enterprise.

“Creating products that will improve the energy and industrial infrastructures of countries and societies around the world allows me to contribute to the global community at large,“ Vinod said. “This taps into a larger obligation to be socially responsible and energy-efficient for generations to come.”
