Alan Gooch has committed his life to one thing – helping others. His primary means of doing this has been his work for more than 25 years in college athletics and football.

Alan is the executive director of the Orlando Sports Foundation and the CEO of the AutoNation Cure Bowl. The goal of the organization is to bring a new and different college football bowl game experience to the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, while creating awareness and additional financial resources for cancer research.

Gooch began his career at the University of Central Florida (UCF) as a defensive back in 1981. He went on to spend 22 seasons as a member of the coaching staff. He started his coaching career in 1983 as a graduate assistant, quickly moving through the ranks and becoming UCF’s recruiting coordinator. He was named assistant head coach in 1998 and took over as interim head coach at the end of the 2003 season.

Upon leaving coaching in 2004, Gooch accepted a position as the executive director of the UCF Athletic Association’s Golden Knights Club. In 2005 after 25 years of service to the university, he left UCF and entered into private business opening Florida operations for an Atlanta commercial real estate firm. In 2007, Gooch opened his own commercial real estate firm, Tizon Commercial, LLC. Gooch was inducted into the UCF Athletics Hall of Fame in 2006. The following year he was named educator of the decade by the UCF College of Education.

Gooch, who received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at UCF, continues as the managing partner and broker of Tizon Commercial and is an adjunct professor at UCF, teaching coaching methods.
